Current Opportunities :

The Trail Association for Community Living (TACL) is a non-profit agency that provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities. We currently have 2 Canada Summer Student positions available for  Children & Youth workers in the greater Trail area @ 30 hrs per week.

Canada Summer Student – Child & Youth Worker:

Responsibilities will include helping to support positive social interactions, implementing programs and life skills training as well as providing social, recreational and leisure activities within the community.

Purpose: The Summer Student position is to shadow the staff at the worksite. This will enable the student to identify the skills required in the position, explore compatibility for a career in the field and/or to build the necessary skills to apply for a position within the organization.

Timeline: Summer Student positions will be for 10 weeks starting June 15, 2016


Post-secondary education in a related field and be returning to school in September

Employment Criteria:

  • Applicants are 19 years of age or older
    • Diploma or certificate in Community Living Program, Classroom Community Support Worker Program, Child and Youth Care, Human Services Study or a related field together with at least three months practical work experience or equivalent as determined by the respective societies.
    • Direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of community based programs and related provincial and community support is preferred.
    • Current Criminal Records Check (CPIC).
    • Current First Aid Certificate.
    • Driver’s License Abstract.
    • Unrestricted Class 4 Driver’s License.
    • Clear Tuberculosis Test. Immunization documentation
    • Letter from a medical doctor indicating that the applicant is physically and mentally healthy to perform required duties
